Does anyone know anything about old vintage jewelry boxes?

I collect these- I find them randomly at antique stores. Most are a gold-toned or pewter decorative box and are lined with red velvet. Does anyone know anything about these? A maker or year?? The history??

Yeah
My grandfather is an antique dealer and he had one of these. He said most of them are worth about 5 dollars depending on the condition because they are not really rare. Some times you can find a nice piece of jewelry inside. One of his had a silver necklace in it. He gave it to me! The best way to find out is to try to find small writing on the box and jewelry and google it. Thats how I fins stuff out for antiques.

How to clean a jewellery box made of pewter?

Step OneWash pewter in warm water using a mild detergent. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
2Step TwoMake a paste of 1 tsp. salt, 1 cup vinegar and about a half-cup flour. Apply to pewter, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth
3Step ThreePolish pewter with a paste made of rottenstone (decomposed limestone, which is available at hardware stores) and boiled linseed oil. Then wash the pewter in warm, soapy water, rinse and buff dry.
4Step FourUse a commercial pewter-cleaning product if desired. Follow directions exactly. If you use a commercial polish, make sure it is formulated especially for pewter. Do not use silver or brass polish.

I need information on contacting corporate buyers for pewter articles, such as vases, bowls, jewelry boxes, etc. in the US and on the verall process for exporting. I am thinking of clients such as Wal-mart, Pier 1, Dillards, etc. or brokers who sell to these companies.
