why is it so hard to find yellow gold wedding rings?

I'm allergic to silver, white gold, or platinum. I LOVE silver toned jewelry, but I just can't wear it. I had to put my wedding rings in the jewelry box because they broke me out so bad. We are looking for a yellow gold set, but everywhere we look, all they have is white gold or silver, or they have very few yellow gold sets to choose from. Can anyone suggest a good jewelry website that has a lot of yellow gold jewelry?

Why am I being criticized for needing platinum over white gold? ?

Last night while at a support meeting for enlisted military spouses (my first time there), we were talking about our wedding days. I described my wedding and how much it just plain sucked. Then one young woman (obviously very immature) asked me why I didn't wear a wedding ring. When I said I had a pretty set but shortly after I was married I started to notice my skin became extremely raw underneath the bands. The doctor advised me to stop wearing it and and see what happened. My skin cleared up within a week or so. So I put it back on and went on vacation ( I didn't do any housework or any cleaning). Again my skin became very raw underneath my rings. So I took them off, and went back to the doctor. I was then told that I had an allergen to gold (my original set was in 14kt yellow gold). So I put my rings in my jewelry box, and 4 years later they were stolen by someone I trusted. I haven't worn a wedding ring since that time.

I then mentioned that we were having a renewal of vows, and we were going to get new platinum rings. She then said, "OMG! Platinum is SO expensive. Why would you WASTE your money on that? I would just buy white gold instead. That is such a waste of good money. Don't worry I will show you some great places to get some good deals on wedding sets." I calmly told her again, "I'm ALLERGIC to gold. I can't wear it." Obviously she didn't listen to me when I said it the first time.

I then get a call from a mutual acquaintance this morning telling me that this young woman was talking about how much I just NEEDED to show off how much money I had to spend for something so expensive. That I was obviously "better" then the other enlisted wives because I HAD to have platinum over white gold blah blah blah. Apparently this young woman wouldn't shut up about me, after I left the meeting early to come home and take care of my family.

OK! ;For those of you who have an allergen to gold, silver and other metals are you criticized for wearing platinum? I would really like to hear what you all have to say.
I should add that I am going to become one of the ombudsman for the command. I will HAVE to deal with this young lady once the command makes its homeport change.

Ridiculous.... I really just think that she's probably a little jealous. It's not like you were showing off the platinum ring (you don't even have it to show off), and how does she know that your platinum ring (let's say you get a band versus a big solitaire diamond) is going to be any more expensive than a gold ring.

This is like accusing someone who has allergies to nuts and asks for a ham sandwich over a peanut butter sandwich of having "expensive tastes."

Would you buy new wedding rings for your 10th wedding anniversary? Opinions and Suggestions Wanted!?

I am planning a great 10 wedding anniversary trip without the kids for 5-7 days. (We never got a first honeymoon because of time,money and his family visiting). We lost our wedding rings when we moved from one house to another just over 3 years ago ( jewelry was put into my jewelry box because we were moving boxes and furniture,and the rings came up missing). We would like to design something new for me.. and buy him a plain platinum band that he can wear for occassions when he's not working on aircraft. Any helpful opinions or suggestions would be appreciated.

No real desgning advice, but a big CONGRATULATIONS on your 10 year anniversary!

Whatever you do decide for the rings, think about getting them added to your homeowner's insurance policy in the event they get lost!
