Police report stolen jewelry, other items from break-in Rutland Herald
Rutland Police are looking for $15,000 worth of jewelry, coins and cash taken from a South Main Street house.
Police said the alleged victims returned home to find the items missing around 5 p.m. Jan. 29.
"It appears the rear door was forced," Detective Ray LaMoria said. "It appears they had gone through the house, going through drawers and things."
LaMoria said no damage other than to the rear door was noted in the initial report.
The list of missing jewelry compiled by police included wedding band, cocktail ring and engagement ring made from white gold and set with diamonds as well as gold rings set with opal, pearls, sapphires and diamonds.
Other missing jewelry included silver chains, jade earrings set in silver, a gold necklace and pendants set with blue topaz and lapis lazuli. The list also had pieces of costume jewelry including necklaces and rings.
Several hundred dollars worth of U.S. and foreign change, Kennedy silver dollars and one and five dollar bills were also taken, according to police.
LaMoria said he did not know how, if at all, the items were secured. He said police had not yet made arrests and that anyone with information on the case should contact him.
"We're still following up on some leads we have," he said.
