Colonie dominated the final day of sectional bowling, easily winning the Class A title and the overall Section II crown today at Boulevard Bowl.
The Ganet Raiders won their second straight Class A and Section II title and will advance to the state tournament March 6-7 at Hoe Bowl Mardi Bob Lanes in Poughkeepsie. Also advancing will be the boys' all-section team comprised of Kyle Wood of Mechanicville, Jeff Karabin of Scotia-Glenville, A.J. Bryk of Amsterdam, Tommy Marshall of Johnstown, Seth Adams of Christian Brothers Academy and Anthony Mushaw of Scotia-Glenville.
Colonie knocked down 6,260 pins, and Guilderland was second with 6,024. They were the only two teams to crack the 6,000 mark in all three sectional tournaments rolled at Boulevard. The Class B boys title was won by Schalmont, and the Class C-D boys' crown went to Mechanicville, but both failed to knock down at least 6,000 pins.
Mike Voss was the star for Colonie with triples of 680 which included a 299 game, and 718 for a 1,398 total Lefty Matt Olson shot a 706 in the morning and a 678 in the afternoon for a 1,380, whle John Shaw chipped inw ith a 641 and a 636 for a 1,277 total.
Adams rolled a 300 game in the morning session for the day's individual highlight.
The Colonie girls also repeated as Section II champions last week at Spare Time Clifton Park, meaning there will be two Colonie teams at the states for the second year in a row.
