How can I learn how to make silver rings and jewelry out of silver?

I have this ring and it's a one of a kind bought at an artisans crafts place. Anyway, I think it would look awesome with a couple of tiny diamonds in it. Is there a such thing as a sodering (spelling) gun that I can melt part of it and stick a diamond into it? Pardon my ignorance about jewelry making, but I really have no clue! Does anyone make silver rings? Also, where is a good place on the web to buy supplies for something like this and to make other unique jewelry? Thank you!

Diamonds are faceted stones; they sparkle because light shines through it. If you place them into metal and cover the back, they really won't shine. If you look at jewelry with gems in it, they are done in what is called a "prong" setting, so that light will go through it.

If you are serious about wanting to learn, take some night classes in jewelry making/metalsmithing. I took them as electives in college and had a blast. You will learn how to work metals correctly so you don't ruin the stuff you bought. Either that, or take it to a professional who can work with your jewelry.

Good luck!

where do i start to make jewelry rings?

i have all these cool ideas and i don't know where to begin, or rather where to buy the supplies. I want a good sturdy ring that i can attach/super-glue maybe wood, plastic and metal on to. I am also looking for rings that can be sized and also have the same materials glued to them,
thank you

ok are you talking about becoming a jeweler?....goldsmith?..im confused i have never seen jewelry with wood and plastic glued to it. if you are talking about working with precious metals then there are a few schools you can attend to become a jeweler. its not that easy you cant just buy the supplies and make things, it takes alot of training and practice, and can be dangerous because you are working with a torch. many jewelers started working in a jewelry store and become apprentices to the jeweler. perhaps you should find a private jewelry store in your area and try to get a job there, it might take a while but the jeweler may apprentice you or at least give you guidance and you can watch how its done. but trust me its hard to start out because jewelers are crazy, i swear, I'm not crazy but most are really weird.

where can i find huge costume jewelry rings?

huge rings are in style right now and i need to find some online sites that sell....any suggestions?

This store has tons of high quality imitation jewelry. You can even search by celebrity and but imitation pieces!
